Middle Georgia State University’s air traffic management program recently became the first in Georgia to participate in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Enhanced Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative. With this recognition, the University is poised to help alleviate the severe nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers.
Atlanta’s 11 Alive spoke with Angela Taylor, air traffic control tower chief at MGA, about the new initiative.
"'We're offering a unique opportunity for students to be able to actually go to school for what you want to do and then come out of school doing what you want to do,' said Angela Taylor.
"'I think that this hopefully will make a dent,' she said. 'I do believe it will.'"
