2026 Georgia Legislative Internship Program

The Georgia Legislative Internship Program is a full-time, paid internship that lets junior and senior college students at universities and colleges in Georgia gain hands-on experience during the legislative session with Government leaders. The session takes place from January to April each year. Each school submits applications from their most promising students and then provides students with college credit for participation.  Students can locate information about the statewide program on the General Assembly's website.

Students can also learn more about the program by viewing the program’s promotional video.

Complete applications are due by email to Dr. Christopher Lawrence, MGA campus coordinator for the program, no later than Oct. 8, 2025. Successful candidates will be notified by the statewide director in mid-October and should expect to complete an in-person interview at the State Capitol in Atlanta the week of Oct. 20–24 if selected.

Academic credit for the internship may vary by degree program and major and should be discussed with the student’s advisor and department chair/program coordinator upon acceptance.

Questions about the program may be directed to either Dr. Lawrence or Dr. Stephanie Kerce at glip@gsu.edu.
