This summer, Middle Georgia State University’s air traffic management program became the first in Georgia to participate in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Enhanced Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative. By becoming an Enhanced AT-CTI school, the University can offer graduates a quicker, more direct pathway into a field vital to aviation safety, helping alleviate the severe nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers.
13WMAZ spoke with MGA's Angela Taylor, tower chief for the School of Aviation, about the designation and what it means for students.
"They won’t have to go through the academy. They’ll go straight to their facility and start training wherever they are assigned."
