Coffee & Conversation: Dr. Zardosht Afshari

Presented by the Office of the President and the Macon Campus Library, join us for Coffee & Conversation as Dr. Zardosht Afshari discusses his latest documentary film, "An Endoscopy." The film follows a student filmmaker who accompanies an immigrant patient to his endoscopy appointment, with the agreement that he will be the subject of her documentary.

Zardosht Afshari is an Iranian filmmaker whose short films have been screened in international film festivals in several countries like the U.S., Iran, Poland, Croatia, India, and Italy. He received his MA in dramatic literature from the University of Tehran in Iran. He moved to the United States in 2019 and has an MFA in film and media arts from Temple University in Philadelphia in the U.S. He is an assistant professor of film at Middle Georgia State University.

His short documentary, "Philadelphia Iran Afghanistan" (2020), was selected as a Market Pick at the Clermont- Ferrand Short Film Festival. His recent two short narrative films, "She Does Not Smile" (2022) and "An Endoscopy" (2023), respectively, had their world premieres at the Tehran International Short Film Festival and BlackStar Film Festival, both of which are Academy Awards Qualifying Film Festivals for Shorts.
