MGA honored Cochran’s history and the legacy of Earl and Wanda Barrs with the dedication of the Barrs Family Outdoor Learning Pavilion and Barrs Family Cottage on the Cochran Campus.

MGA honored Cochran’s history and the legacy of Earl and Wanda Barrs with the dedication of the Barrs Family Outdoor Learning Pavilion and Barrs Family Cottage on the Cochran Campus.

The open-air pavilion was built with reclaimed wood and brick from the former L&H Shirt Co., once a major local employer. The Barrs, both graduates of the former Middle Georgia College, which is now MGA's Cochran Campus, own the L&H property. They donated the materials and provided additional support to make the Cochran Campus project possible.

The cottage was once the home of Barney Hendricks and his family. Hendricks was the longtime comptroller of Middle Georgia College.

These new spaces will host University and community events while preserving a piece of the region’s industrial past. MGA is grateful to the Barrs for their continued generosity with their alma mater.
