MGA Public Safety Faculty Member Engages in Global Peacekeeping Training

Dr. Thomas Matyók, Associate Professor in the Doctor of Science in Public Safety program, recently participated in the prestigious 19th Asymmetric Threat Course hosted at the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU) in Vicenza, Italy.

Matyók delivered a series of presentations focused on the complexities of Hybrid Threats and Warfare, as well as the influence of Hybrid Actors in modern conflict environments. His insights helped illuminate how state and non-state actors blend conventional and unconventional tactics to pursue their objectives.

His contributions supported the course’s mission to equip international peacekeeping and security professionals with the analytical tools needed to identify, assess, and respond to a wide range of asymmetric threats. The CoESPU, a Carabinieri think tank partnered with the U.S. Global Peace Operations Initiative, plays a key role in preparing global peacekeeping forces for United Nations and regional Peace Support Operations.

Dr. Matyók’s engagement in this event reflects his commitment to advancing public safety scholarship and fostering international collaboration. The exchange of perspectives throughout the course underscored the increasing need for adaptive strategies in today’s rapidly evolving global security landscape.
