Dr. Vernard Hodges Inspires at “Voices of Impact” Lecture Series

On Thursday, November 8th, The Office of Career Services and the Office of Alumni Affairs debuted their “Voices of Impact” Lecture Series with guest speaker, Dr. Vernard Hodges. The vision for this series was started by Dr. Melinda Moffett, the Director of Career Services, and soon found support in the Office of University Advancement and Alumni Affairs. The event kicked off with heavy hors d’oeuvres and a chance for over 40 attendees to network with each other before Dr. Hodges took the stage.

Dr. Hodges shared his amazing journey detailing the circumstances he was born into and the choices he made as an adolescent, which almost led him down the wrong path. He also shared how he was able to shift his values and goals, which led to him successfully starting up multiple business ventures, such as starting a real estate holding company which has grown into a multi-million dollar company consisting of several apartment complexes and commercial properties. The students, faculty, and community members left the speech energized and ready to implement the actionable tips and wisdom Dr. Hodges shared with them that night.
