The MGA Model African Union (MAU) Goes to Washington

The MGA SEMAU (Model African Union) Students Bound for Washington, D.C.

Twelve MGA students, members of the MGA Model Africa Union Student Organization, will travel to Washington, D.C. to attend and participate in the 16th Annual International Model African Union Conference. The Conference will be held at Howard University from February 22-25, 2018. Eleven of the students are Ga Academy students and one is non-Ga Academy student.

In November, 2017, these students, together with Macon campus students advised by Dr. Mary Mears, participated in the 21st Southeast Regional Model African Union Conference held at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA. At that conference, many of these students won awards for their outstanding leadership. Luke Vargo won the Outstanding Delegate Leadership Award, Odell Blackmon served as Chair of the Executive Council and Christian Mack as Chair of the Committee on Economic Matters. Karice Davis and Sir Laurence Cruz-Walton served as Rapportuers. Indiya Mallory, Adetunji Adeoba, Makayla Virdi, Jessica Hartman and Buhle Victoria Ndimande won the Honorable Mention: Leadership-in-Committee Awards.

For the Washington-D.C. trip, the students would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ken Fincher, the MGA Foundation and its staff, and the GA Academy for providing the funds needed to attend the Conference.

My thanks to Dr. David Biek, my Interim Dean and to Dr. Paul Gladden, my Interim Department Chair.
