MGA Faculty & Staff to Become Principals for a Day

Six faculty and staff members of MGA's School of Education and Behavioral Sciences are participating in the 6th annual "Principal for a Day" program, an initiative of OneMacon’s Business Education Partnership and the Bibb County School District. During visits to school on Thursday, March 31, the "principals" will learn about the day-to-day operations of the running of a school, how principals balance their day between instruction and administration, how business partners can better connect industry with the students, and what schools need from the industry, how students are being prepared for college and the workforce, about the "Leader in Me" program, and more.

The MGA participants and the Bibb schools where they will be volunteering their time are:

  • Dr. Rhonda Amerson, chair of the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work, Porter Elementary
  • Dr. James Collins, professor of psychology, Southwest High
  • Katie Gray, field coordinator for the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work, Skyview Elementary
  • Dr. Jacqueline Jackson, part-time instructor, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary  
  • Dr. Daneell Moore, assistant professor of education, Williams Elementary
  • Dr. Jane Strong, assistant professor of education, Rosa Taylor Elementary
