MGA Scholarship Portal Open – Apply by April 1

The Middle Georgia State University scholarship portal is open to accept scholarship applications for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 semesters. The deadline for the first round of awards is midnight on April 1, 2023 with the exception of the Study Abroad scholarship applications which is March 1, 2023.

If you’ve submitted an application in the past and would like to be considered for future scholarship awards, you must submit a new application. Please review the following important information before you begin your application.

Who can apply? Students who have been admitted to MGA are eligible to apply for scholarships, including dual-enrolled students and graduate students. Students must be in good academic and conduct standing to receive scholarships.

What if my scholarship from last year is renewable? Even if you receive a renewable scholarship, you must reapply each year to confirm you still meet the award criteria.

What is the deadline? The portal will accept applications until midnight on April 1, 2023, with the exception of the Study Abroad applications which is March 1, 2023. There are no exceptions for late submissions.

What happens next? Applications will be reviewed in April and the first round of scholarship awards will be made in April and May. Students will be notified about scholarship awards through their mga.edu email address.  You must accept the award online in order to receive the funding.  Study Abroad scholarship applications will be evaluated and awarded in March.

Where do I apply? Here is a link to the online application: https://mga.academicworks.com. A single General Application will place you in the pool for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

I’m having trouble getting on the portal, what can I do?

If you are new to the application process, you will need to first create an account. Click on the ‘Sign Up’ button on the top right-hand side of the page and create your account using your mga.edu email address and a password that you create (it is not your email password).  After you create the account, you will receive a confirmation email to confirm your identity. Please make sure to check your spam folder for this email. Once you have confirmed your account, you can begin the scholarship application process.

If you have an account but have forgotten your password, use the ‘Trouble signing in?’ link to reset your password.  If you attempt to log in too many times, the system will lock you out. You’ll need to wait for 30-45 minutes before attempting to reset your password again.

What is on the application? The application includes a number of short answer questions and one essay question.  Read and answer each question truthfully on the application.  Because the application also uses information from SWORDS, it is also very important that you update and maintain your personal information in SWORDS. Your application will automatically be filtered against all available scholarships for which you qualify.  You don’t need to submit individual applications for specific scholarships.
