Last week, MGA faculty and staff of the School of Computing welcomed 29 graduate students for their first residency in the Doctor of Science in Information Technology (DSIT) degree program. The intensive four-day residency, coordinated by Assistant Professor Dr. Valerie Mercer, introduced the program's sixth cohort to foundational coursework and provided the opportunity to meet faculty who will teach them in the program.
In addition to attending four full days of classes, the doctoral students participated in specialized professional development and community-building activities. Academic highlights included a focused writing workshop led by Dr. Sharon Colley and a research workshop with Graduate Studies Librarian Dana Casper. The cohort also toured the Museum of Technology and interacted with MGA DSIT alumni who shared their personal experiences and insights. Outside of the classroom, students connected after hours at High Tales Rooftop Bar and took in a Macon Bacon baseball game.
