On August 8, MGA welcomed a new academic year with the annual Faculty & Staff Convocation. Full-time faculty and staff gathered for the event on the University's Macon Campus with a provided picnic lunch followed by division meetings.
Christopher Blake, Ph.D., president of MGA, provided a Convocation address, recaping the University's milestones and presenting goals for the academic year ahead.
"MGA is poised for a wonderful 2024-25 Academic Year because of the strength of our community. I wish you much success for the year and thank you for what you will do to serve our students and the public of middle Georgia."
Among many other activities, the University presented awards to several staff members and recognized faculty and staff for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service.
The recipients of this year's staff awards are Barbara Gibbons, director of Annual Giving, Champion Award; Deneice Bausley, Institutional Learning Support coordinator, Unsung Hero Award; and Sandy Little-Herring, director of Advising, Service Excellence Award.
The staff and faculty look forward to welcoming new and returning students for the first day of fall classes on August 14.
